Mappillai Samba is a traditional dark red rice called Bridge groom’s rice. In ancient history, young men consume this rice regularly before attempting to lift the "Ilavattukkal". It is a huge heavy stone to be lifted by the bridegroom to demonstrate his fitness to marry a girl.
